Falcon 5.3 Patch
May 26, 2010 I've just recently check out what the guys at Free Falcon have done to the old Falcon 4.0 and its previous Free Falcon. Falcon 4.0 with Free Falcon 5.3. The ultimate source of patches & addons for Falcon 4.0 - Allied Force.
Can anyone set me straight on the install procedure for FF5.3? I've read you need to install either the original Falcon 4.0 from the CD or Falcon 4 Allied Force from the CD before installing FF5.0 and patching to 5.3. Do the respective versions need their newest patches applied before installing the Free Falcon files?
(1.0.13 for AF And 1.08 For Falcon 4.0) Thanks for your help. Inline advert (2nd and 3rd post) - 03/11/10 02:34 AM Re: Free Falcon 5.3 Install Question Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 12 Junior Member Junior Member Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 12. No need for anything but the FF5.3 installer.
Simply download it and run it. Though note that FF5.3 has issues running on Vista/Win 7 OS with Nvidia graphic cards. You can get it to to work on new systems, but there is a definite dance.

Recommend that you read up on the threads over at the FreeFalcon web forum for details, especially before installing. For example, if installing on Vista, do not install in Program Files folder. Create a new folder such as Games off C or some other configuration.
If you have an XP box though and an ATI card, you are golden with FF5.3! FF5.5 coming soon too?! Thanks WindWeapon, but I'm confused. Maybe you know something I don't. Check the following two links at: Just below the 'FF5.3 is released' paragraph there are two links: From those two links: From: (Hustler, FreeFalcon) 'OK, let's get to FreeFalcon5. First: Copy your log book out of your current install and put it somewhere safe, outside of your Microprose or current install directory.
Second: Install Falcon 4.0 from the original CD. Third: Install FF 5.0. The installer will ask you where you want to install FF5. I suggest that you do not put it into the Program Files folder.' And from: (Hustler, FreeFalcon) 'You may want to make a copy of your log book file to migrate into your new install. That file can be found in your FF5/config folder.
It is called (your pilot name).lbk. Uninstall your current version of FF5 using the uninstaller icon in your FF5 install folder. Reinstall a new 'NEVER BEEN USED' version of FF.5, this is VERY important. You may install into Program Files. Do NOTHING else until you have run the patch installer. This is VERY important. Run FF5.3Patch.exe.'
Clarification needed. 03/11/10 07:35 PM Re: Free Falcon 5.3 Install Question Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 8 Junior Member Junior Member Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 8.
