I'm slowly beginning to accept that Squeenix will most likely NEVER release Seiken Densetsu 3 on the Virtual Console. It's a game that, for anyone with a computer and the internet, is easily obtainable in multiple languages, and while it certainly is a good game (better than LoM and everything after, in my opinion) it could've been loads better. Here's a thought, what if instead of a simple VC release of SD3, they made a direct sequel to Secret of Mana, via the Wii-Ware service? All they'd have to do to avoid screwing it up is just keep all of the same game play elements that made SoM1 fun and engaging: The Ring Menu (it wouldn't be a Mana game without it!), 8 different weapon types and the ability to trade them between partners during gameplay, level ups for spells and weapons after repeated use, using the Whip to get across gaps and pits, riding Flammie around an immersive 3D world screen (NOT just picking numbers from a stationary 2D map screen like Children of Mana) and have the storyline pick up after SoM1, something like. It has been 30 years since the legendary Mana Knight Rhandi, Princess Purim, and the Sprite Popoie destroyed the Mana Fortress and slew The Mana Beast, their progeny live on, unaware of their parents' triumphs or their sacrifices. They are cared for by the Elder of Potos, an aging Sprite with orange hair who only tells them that their parents 'died for a noble cause.' One day, the young girl discovers mysterious ruins deep within a cave in the side of a nearby mountain.

I honestly think something like this could work. A group of folks who used to work for Technos made River City Ransom 2 for Wii-Ware and from what I've seen that looks pretty awesome. And Square themselves made FFIV: The After Years which looks pretty much like a fan hack with some new story. I never said you meant any of that, but I still feel it has no reason it should look better than Seiken Densetsu 3 or Secret of Mana. If anything, it should be just as After Years was to FFIV/FFII.

Click to expand.LtTP is the only zelda game i haven't played but Considering the series' overall skill in level design, I have no doubt it would be more interresting that Secret of Mana. Due to the ease in which you can get retro games on downloadable services (i.e. Xbox live Arcade and Wiiware) somebody's age is no longer a reflection on whether or not they have played/enjoyed retro games alSO why did you need to look at an NG profile you could have just looked at my GBATemp profile, it's right there, really.

Click to expand.I can't help but get the feeling I'm being trolled and you're not going to give a damn. LTTP: You control one character, Link. SOM: You have 3 characters, Rhandi (the boy who pulls out the sword), Purim (the princess of Pandora), and Popoi (a sprite child who lost his memory). There is multiplayer capability, but if you play solo your other characters will be controlled by the AI and you can adjust their behavior to your liking in the menu, making them as aggressive or as passive as you want.
Hitting the Select button will change the character you're currently controlling. LTTP: Link gets 4 things he can use for weapons: Sword (which he can only charge up to one level to do the Spin Attack, and later on the more long distance projectile shot like the first game on NES), Bombs, Hookshot and Bow. SOM: There are 8 available weapons to choose from: Sword, Spear, Javelin, Whip (used to get across pits), Bow, Boomarang, Spike Gloves and Axe. Each of these can be swapped between your characters any time and they each can be upgraded to a new form by 'Forging' them with their respective Orbs, they also level up with use, giving their wielder 8 levels of charge attacks, each one doing a different thing. LTTP: Link gets 3 pendant things that only do one spell each, Bombos, Ether, and Quake. SOM: There are 8 Elementals, Dryad (Life / Mana), Shade (Dark), Lumina (Light), Luna (Moon), Gnome (Earth), Undine (Water), Salamando (Fire) and Sylph (Wind / Lightning). Each of these has an average of 3 spells each and they are different for Purim (the girl) or Popoi (the sprite).
The girl's magic is focused on Healing / Protection and Embuing weapons with the properties of an Elemental. The Sprite's magic is offensive and is focused on damaging monsters, stealing their HP or MP, or transforming them. Spells level up and 'grow' in size and effectiveness from continued use. LTTP: You get the Ocarina that lets you summon a bird and you get to choose numbered areas to go to from a stationary map. Hyrule really isn't very big (but I guess the Mirror World bit helps stretch it out). SOM: You get the Wind Drum that calls Flammie, taking you to a quasi-3D map screen where you actually get to fly around the world and see everything below you.
SOM's world is pretty big spanning multiple continents with lots to explore. LTTP: Has a couple memorable music tracks SOM: Has one of the best soundtracks of any video game, evar.
